Here are some guidelines for active referees of our association

Training

Training takes place every Tuesday night, except when designated for an association meeting (see meeting dates). It commences at 6:30pm at Denzil Joyce with Garry Greco as the conditioner.

Results Sheets

Results sheets are taken by the referee at the conclusion of a game, then passed onto the next referee on that particular ground. It is expected that the last referee places sheets in the drop box at the Manly Leagues Club. All sheets must be in by Sunday evening.

Uniform

The current onfield uniform is a green and black jersey carrying our major sponsor AAMI and Harbord Bowling Club. Black shorts with AAMI logo and black socks with green stripes make up the onfield uniform. Referees are have a whistle and a set of flags. This gear can be attained through the gear steward. Active referees will need to purchase their own footy boots from retail stores.
Other gear for referees are a black sports bag with AAMI printed on the side, a winter jacket, off field shirt and dress pants. Training shirts are also available to members that attend regularly.

Appointments

The Director of Referees is in charge of the appointments of referees. The appointment sheet is emailed to members mid-week and is also posted on this website under the "Appointments" link. Any changes to game details are notified to members by email, thus it is important to check your emails later in the week as well. In Manly, Mini/Mod and International from Under 6s to Under 15s are played on Saturday and touch judges are not appointed to these during the regular season. On Sundays, members are appointed to Under 16s to A-Grade as centre referees and/or touch lines. Also on Sunday, a member of the Referee Advisory Board is appointed to evaluate and coach referees.
